Samsung Computers
I bought a Samsung VM7000 laptop from a UK high-street retailer in June 2001. In December 2002 I decided to upgrade the Windows ME operating system to Windows 2000. As part of the upgrade process I was advised that I would need a new modem driver. I contacted Samsung who told me that they only support the operating system supplied with the computer, and would not be able to help
DABS Direct
In December 2002, Alice and I wanted to buy a new printer. We made our selection, then contacted DABS Direct to order it. I sent an email to DABS Direct to ask if it was supplied with an interface cable. I received a reply advising me that they didn’t provide pre-sales support!!!! After the printer arrived, (outside their promised schedule), we had a problem feeding envelopes through the printer. I contacted DABS Direct and they told me that I should contact the manufacturer!!! Unbelievable!
McCourt, part of Great Universal Stores
In November 2001 I ordered a pair of ladies’ pyjamas from the McCourt catalogue, in good time for Xmas. Three weeks later I received a letter from McCourt telling me that they had been unable to process my order as the telesales girl hadn’t asked for my date of birth!!! I then phoned them, only to find out that they had sold out of the item. Are these people for real??
